The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and the NGO Tamana came together yesterday for a cause that’s very close to my heart. Titled ‘Inclusion Beyond Boundaries’, the fashion show was held at the Hyatt Regency in Delhi. It gave children from prestigious schools all over Delhi, as well as differently-abled children from the NGO Tamana the opportunity to walk the ramp for an array of amazing designers.
They got a chance to strut their stuff on the runway for industry bigwigs like Abraham & Thakore,Anju Modi, Gaurav Jai Gupta, JJ Valaya, Payal Jain, Rahul Mishra, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal, and Samant Chauhan. And what a show it was! All their khadi creations came alive on the ramp draped on these beautiful children. Even the chief guest, Australian High Commissioner to India, Ms. Harinder Sidhu, walked the ramp in a stunning Abraham & Thakore creation.
Dr. Shayama Chona, Founder and President of Tamana NGO said,
The idea of partnering with FDCI for this soulful fashion event is the all-encompassing philosophy of how mainstream fashion can bring style into the lives of differently-abled ones. Internationally acclaimed brands have pioneered the concept of making fashion adaptive and inclusive for all and, with The Khadi Fashion event it is our vision to embrace this change in India as well.
